We hit the Herbstmesse in Basel again last weekend. Had some good fun. Seth tried to get on a motorcycle and have a ride....
But he was taken off...too young, no seat belts... how un-Swiss. Must have been an imported crew with some sort of liability. So he popped into a little race car.
We sampled some fair food..
Yes - they serve cotton candy and all the fair type foods... but they take it up a notch here. You can have any type of sausage or meat. Sweets like you have never seen before. Raclette stands. Crepes. Wonderful food... And of course more rides.
We will never forget the "mouse spectacle" - a caravan filled with a massive playmobil display that was overrun by mice. Yes real mice. Aimee and Seth went in. Imagine how happy Aimee was about that one...
Sad to see the fall festival end but guess what - now it is time for Christmas! No pesky holiday like Halloween or Thanksgiving here so we are already eating gingerbread and baking Christmas treats! Wait until next week - lights and everything!!! I now realize that this whole Autumn into winter into Christmas thing is to keep us all from becoming depressed about the weather... In Encintas, CA there wasn't a whole lot of "HEY LET'S ENJOY THE FALL...WOW SANTA CLAUS - GREAT - LOOK KIDS IT IS FUN!! NOT COLD AND GLOOMY" That is because it was 75 and sunny in Encinitas all through the Winter... no need for all the charades... I like the charades - don't get me wrong - they are fun - but there is something to be said for the nice weather....I have been reintroduced to the concept of skin moisturizer and lip balm for the cold (not sun). But have also rediscovered an appreciation for warm beverages, sweaters, fire, and meals that involve melted cheese.....
